Second Life freebie

I was planning to do a travel post, when in sailed these thigh-high pink boots and leather jacket from the Coquette subscribomatic. And that belt on the jacket is prim, by the way. I can’t tell you how much I love this Valentine’s gift.

Not only is this still in the suscribomatic history, but so is the gorgeous Ice Queen gown, a fairy confection gift from the holidays, complete with wings, skin, shape, shoes and jewelry. AND so is the darling Instamatic necklace, which enables you to insert two photos. I’m not going to show these older items here as they were blogged all over at the time. Just take my word on this and get to Coquette, cause these wonderful gifts won’t be there forever. And look around while you’re there, ’cause this is a great store. The boots and jacket in other colors are also very reasonably priced.

I was about to leave the house today to do a bit of exploring, when who should pop over but Second Life heart throb Evo Witte. I was dressed for wanderings on winter sims in one of the FREE holiday gifts from LVS. If you haven’t already, get yourself toute suite over to the square outside LVS for loads of phenomenal gifts under the tree from both LVS and My Dead Kitty. Ravenlynn Templar is an extremely generous designer, and one of the reasons for the generosity this season is to help raise money for Toys 4 Tots. So please look for the donation box near the freebies and spare what you can.

Back to Evo. Now Evo is good-looking, funny and probably hipper than just about anyone else in SL. Back when Evo was DJing he was the reason for catfights among nightclub dancers, and when he lived down the beach from me, the dramas played out among him, his girlfriends and his GFs’ jealous admirers were much more entertaining than any episode of The Young and the Restless. Heck, I used to make popcorn just to settle down and watch.

But enough history. After I showed Evo around the beach house, we went out back to say hi to  Devi Moonbeam - she stops by to feed the whale in the mornings. I just recently installed the whale, because I didn’t have enough room for him at the last place I lived. I mentioned to Evo that I hadn’t named the whale yet.

Sapphire Jetaime: I keep seeing him hurtling like a space ship into the sunset. And yet he’s still here. No doubt I have his swimming path charted too close to the edge of the sim. But I look at having a flying whale as an extra benefit.

Thar she blows! Every once in awhile a whale hurtles through space and falls off the end of the earth at the horizon - yet Humphrey is still swimming in my bay!

Want your own orca? Go get yourself one from Jerry Martin at Exotic Fish Supply. And if you’re very, very good, he may even take you to the private sims where they swim wild. Just be sure you have the space. Nothing worse than a beached whale!

It’s the holiday season, and so of course all of our thoughts turn to - that’s right - ice skating! But are you tired of skates that just don’t really quite go with your outfit? And if your skates match, do you find you can’t quite find the right shoes to walk over to the club house for some cocoa?  Rhaorth Antonelli of Rha! has solved this issue by offering us sequined skating dresses, matching skates and shoes, all sold separately for those who like to mix and match. Above you see me skating at Christmas by Pondlife.

Now I like lounging around on the deck in my jeans or a sarong as much as the next person, but when I hit the ice, it’s all about the glam. I chose the blue sequined skating dress as you can see, but these dresses also come in green, yellow, red and black - though the black has a silvery look to me. Rhaorth’s prices are so extremely good, you might want to grab all of them! She’s just reduced her prices throughout the store, so hurry on over. We are talking DEALS, girls!

Sometimes silver and grey can look rather unfinished in SL, sort of like a pencil sketch.  But Rha!’s “black” skating dress does not have that issue - it looks finished and fabulous. Here you see Rhaorth skating around her store in it. Oh, that kid! The hair she’s wearing, by the way, is a new style she will be introducing soon.

Needless to say, the stiletto skates (don’t you love SL?  Stiletto skates!) are complete with a graceful skating animation that will show off how you have been practicing on the ice for years. But here’s the really cool thing. Check out those snowflake pantyhose! They are included with the dress! Rhaorth says she may also begin offering them separately, so be on the look-out.

And please also note the snowflake mesh gloves included in the outfit!

We’ve lately become enamored of [GearShift] and here you see Quest and I in front of the Golden Gate Bridge modeling the his and hers hoodies available for free to group members at the [GearShift] stores.

Quest’s shirt is included. The woman’s hoodie says “Allure” on the front, which I’m not that crazy about, but for the guys this is a great gift. Now you know often guys’ clothes look great on women in SL, but the “his” hoodie version didn’t really work on me in this case. You’ll need to join the group and head over to one of the [GearShift] locations to touch the sign to get the goods.

And for those who are wondering, this look you see on me today is about as close as it gets to the real life me.

Tom the Insult Turkey is BACK at Eolande, he’s FREE and he’s worse than ever! Touch Tom and hear 20 horribly awful insulting lines, like

“One more step and I’ll peck you in the cranberries,”

and

“You don’t have the giblets to baste me.”

These are a couple of the milder insults, as Tom is a bit R-rated. I won’t spoil it for you!

Too bad he’s not trans, ’cause this would be a great way to send a message to that special someone.

We don’t discriminate on styles here at Shameless Gossip, so I doffed the piercings and tattoos from my last blog post in order to show you this free 18th century gown from Wunderlich’s historical garb. It is modeled after a dress seen in the movie The Duchess, which is about the life of Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806) who was the great-great-great-great-aunt of Diana, Princess of Wales.

The cameo necklace is from Caroline’s jewelry and was a gift some time ago, but if you are looking for cameos or any other kind of jewelry, this is a wonderful shop, and Caroline Apollo is a lovely person. First photo was taken at Straylight and the second over at Devi Moonbeam’s house.

Zip over to Cipria Coutoure for what they are billing as their Trendy Tartan Classic Cut Pants. Walk into the store past two lucky chairs, head for the back to the right and on the wall you will see two rows of pants. They are in the top row, second from the right, on display with all the other pants.

These look great with the [GearShift] group gift you probably already picked up (in group notices since Nov. 2). I’m wearing them with highrigger boots from Jeepers Creepers (not free), facial piercings from Flipside (not free), wrist band from ETD (not free) and tattoos from artilleri (not free, but don’t you just love artilleri?). Quest dragged me over to Rocx today so he could pick up some free boots for men that have been getting good reviews. I have to admit, they looked great, and here you can see Quest admiring them on his feet and the sign for them behind.

But as we were leaving the store, we were completely blinded by what I thought must be an incoming alien space ship. But no, it was a noob who had discovered bling! He was born Oct. 6, far too old to not know better. You get the benefit of the doubt for one day tops when it comes to bling. I’m sorry.

We couldn’t get away from it. He blinded us coming and going!

I am sorry for this poor unfortunate, but isn’t there a separate island with no way back to the rest of Second Life where we can send all the blingtards? Wouldn’t they be happier among their own kind? 

Xtreme Reality (XR) Skins from [MVS] Mystical Virtual Studios is giving away their French Female Skins and New York Executive Male Skins, which will be discontinued before the end of the year to make way for new releases. For women, there are three skin tones with 16 make-up choices per pack. I thought about having Quest Hawks model the male skins, but then we’ll end up hanging out in SL, and I have some work and a RL event to get to today. So today, you’re just stuck with me. But I promise we will start giving the guys a bit of love in the form of reviews soon.

This was one of my faves.

The note card sent over says “Most avatar skins in SL are based on a single monotone color base that does not have the same realistic effect as the XR Skins which use a multi-layered texturing technique to recreate the subtle differences of color and texture of the human body.”

Now, I don’t want to hit this point too hard, because, after all,  these skins are about to be retired, are not a new release and are a gift on top of that. But at least in these skins I really don’t see that they are any more realistic than most skins in SL — and certainly don’t begin to approach Adam n Eve’s new Angel line (blogged previously) in terms of a 3D, touchable feel. Once again, I realize it is not quite fair to compare skins that will soon be retired to a new release from another designer, but since the claim of enhanced reality was made, I would be amiss to not address it. However these skins are a wonderful gift, and I love many of the make-ups (I like warmer toned soft peach and coral lips, and many designers don’t include those choices). I look forward to the next release from this company.

I was not going to blog the BLOCKHEADSVILLE hunt put together by Ding Fotherington and Venturino Benson of My Second Life on the D-List because everyone else is blogging it, and I’m swamped with work real life, having taken off waaaay too much RL time to celebrate the Obama win. In fact, I was not even going to DO the hunt. But, honey, take a look at this lingerie! This skin! The clothes! Warning on more partial nudity, but oh, my, that violet under-bra in the fourth photo!

With all those gifts sitting out in the open inside some of the noobs in Noobtown, I popped over for five minutes and grabbed a bunch. Some of the lingerie in particular is to die for, and I have a renewed interest in lingerie for reasons I won’t get into here. ;-)  Well, just take a look at these photos and get over there. Skin I am wearing is from the hunt - It’s Willow in tan from Rockberry. I LOVE it.

If you are in a hurry, at the very least go to the Noobtown Gentlemen’s Club, because the way it is set up is just hysterically funny. I felt photos here might be a bit much, but if you need a good laugh, you really have to go. And btw, most of the noobs in the club hold gifts.
